HOI Helps Arthritis Foundation Place #1 In the Country

Hundreds attended the Arthritis Foundation’s Orange County and Inland Empire annual Walk to Cure Arthritis at Angel Stadium of Anaheim to raise funds to find a cure for arthritis on Sunday, May 15. Families, teams, community organizations and health advocates walked the three-mile and one-mile course. In total, the foundation raised more than $557,000 for arthritis research.
Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI) was the lead sponsor for this year’s event, with CEO Dereesa Reid serving as the corporate honoree. HOI’s surgery centers, Orthopedic Surgery Center of Orange County and Main Street Specialty Surgery Center also took part in the event.
Participants enjoyed live entertainment, food, fun activities, a Jumbotron, giveaways and more throughout the morning. Mae’ole Hoku Polynesian Dancers, musician Corey Angeli, On Pointe Dance Studio and others provided entertainment.
According to the Arthritis Foundation, arthritis affects one in every five adults and 300,000 children in the U.S. Walk to Cure Arthritis is a nationwide event that unites communities to put an end to arthritis.
Join us next year on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Angel Stadium. Dr. Carlos Prietto, Interim CEO and Board Chair for HOI has been named the Corporate Honoree as well as Dr. Jay Patel, HOI Orthopedic Surgeon as the Medical Honoree.
