Dr. Ben Rubin, a Hoag Orthopedic surgeon and long-time team physician, was recognized for nearly 40 years of service, overseeing the care of thousands of Servite High School student-athletes and other members of the community. In honor of Dr. Rubin’s commitment and care to his Servite family for four decades, Servite is naming its Sports Medicine program after him.
After being introduced to Servite High School by a fellow doctor, a position opened up for a team physician in the summer of 1978. Dr. Rubin applied and got the job. The rest is history.
Dr. Rubin says that many of his former patients become life-long friends. “It’s nice to be a part of a big family,” he says. “I celebrate their joys and sorrows… Going to their events, happy or sad, is part of being family.” This is evident in the way that he treats his patients. If you were a student-athlete treated by Dr. Rubin, you know what it was like to be treated as if you were family.
Fundraising has begun for the Dr. Rubin Sports Medicine Center at Servite High School and a tribute dinner to benefit the building will be held on November 28, 2017 in Fullerton, California. For more information, visit: http://bit.ly/2hk7Lzy.
