About Dr. Brett I. Shore
Dr. Brett Shore is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in comprehensive care of the hip joint. He has extensive training and expertise in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery of the hip, knee and shoulder for adults and adolescents.
His treatment approach focuses on keeping patients as active and pain-free as possible through individualized plans. Using a shared decision-making model, Dr. Shore performs a risk-benefit analysis for each patient with the goal of facilitating healthy, active lifestyles.
Education:
- Undergrad from Princeton University (molecular biology)
- Medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons
- Completed orthopedic residency at Harvard Combined Orthopedic Residency
- Sports medicine fellowship with Dr. James Andrews at American Sports Medicine Institute
Prior to HOI, Dr. Shore was Chief of Hip Preservation for Kaiser Southern California for 10 years. Additionally, Dr. Shore spend a sabbatical in Switzerland studying both hip preservation and hip replacement with some of the world’s top experts in hip surgery.
Specializing in both hip preservation and hip replacement via an anterior muscle-sparing approach, Dr. Shore has expertise in treating femoroacetabular impingement, hip dysplasia, hip arthritis, and tendon/muscle injuries around hip. Dr. Shore also treats sports injuries of knee and shoulder including ACL/PCL tears, meniscus/cartilage damage, rotator cuff and labrum tears.
Dr. Shore is an editorial board member for Journal of Arthroscopy, and is a member of several professional organizations including International Society of Hip Arthroscopy.
Dr. Shore enjoys an active lifestyle including hiking, rock climbing, snowboarding and adventure seeking.
