About Dr. Matthew P. Siljander
Dr. Matthew Siljander is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in joint replacement and adult reconstructive surgery. He is fellowship trained in lower extremity adult reconstructive surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His primary focus is on the surgical treatment of hip and knee arthritis and in diagnosing and treating failed total hip replacements and knee replacements that require another surgery.
Dr. Siljander was born in Phoenix, Arizona. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Michigan and worked in the field as an engineer before he earned his medical degree at the Chicago Medical School. He then completed his residency training at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Royal Oak, Michigan. After residency, Dr. Siljander continued his training with a fellowship in knee and hip replacements and complex adult joint reconstruction at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Siljander has been very active in research in the field of orthopedics and joint replacement surgery. He has authored numerous scientific publications and book chapters. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and he has frequently presented at many regional and national meetings.
Dr. Siljander lives in Irvine with his wife and four children. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing sports, and is an avid fan of University of Michigan football.
