HOI Ranked 29th Nationally in Orthopedics and “High Performing” in Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement, Hip Fracture and Back Surgery

Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI), one of the largest providers of orthopedic care in the nation, has been ranked 29th by U.S. News & World Report in its “2024-2025 Best Hospitals” list. In addition to this distinction, U.S. News has also recognized HOI as “High Performing” in Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement, Hip Fracture and Back Surgery (Spinal Fusion) for 2024-2025.

“HOI is incredibly honored to be recognized once again by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation’s best hospitals,” said HOI CEO Kim Mikes. “Our consistent ranking in the top 1 percent of orthopedic hospitals for the past seven years highlights our dedication to delivering high-quality musculoskeletal healthcare. This achievement is a testament to the relentless commitment of our physicians, clinical staff, and team members to providing exceptional orthopedic care to the communities we serve.”

The annual “Best Hospitals” rankings and ratings, now in their 35th year, are designed to assist patients in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions, or elective procedures. With more than one million Americans receiving joint replacements each year, and millions more receiving other orthopedic and spine surgeries, those in pain can use these rankings in identifying the highest performing hospitals and physicians.

The methodologies used in most areas of care for the 2024-25 U.S. News rankings and ratings are based largely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety, and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.

“We commend U.S. News & World Report for their dedication to enhancing transparency in healthcare. We believe these rankings will empower consumers seeking musculoskeletal medical services to make well-informed decisions about their care,” said Steven Barnett, M.D., chief medical officer of HOI.

HOI, the highest volume provider of joint replacements in California, has received consistent recognition from various publications and health care organizations for its patient-focused services since opening in 2010, including topping the U.S. News Best Hospitals List in 2023-2024; 2022-2023; 2021-2022; 2020-2021; 2019-2020; 2018-2019; 2017-2018; 2013-2014 and 2012-2013.
