New Additions To HOI Medical Staff for 2024

Hoag Orthopedic Institute, one of the largest providers of orthopedic and spine care in the nation, has announced the addition of four new fellowship-trained surgeons to its medical staff.

Barnett, M.D., chief medical officer of Hoag Orthopedic Institute. “These specialized physicians’ expertise further bolsters HOI’s reputation as Orange County’s exclusive orthopedic hospital and top choice for high-quality care and superior outcomes.”

Arthroplasty:

  • Andrew D. Foster, M.D., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship trained in joint replacement. He received his fellowship training from St. John’s Medical Center in Santa Monica, Calif. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency training and internship at Wexner Medical Center at Ohio State University. Dr. Foster is a graduate of the Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio.
  • Joseph Koressel, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstruction and joint replacement. He was an adult reconstruction fellow and clinical instructor at Stanford Health Care Department of Orthopedic Surgery in Palo Alto, Calif., where he trained under pioneers and current leaders in joint replacement. Dr. Koressel performed his surgical residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Department of Orthopedic Surgery in Philadelphia where he was recognized with the Marvin E. Steinberg Award for outstanding work in adult reconstructive orthopedic surgery. He received his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York.

Sports Medicine:

  • Aditi Majumdar, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in pediatric and adolescent sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. She performed her orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital / Harvard Medical School, followed by a post-fellowship preceptorship in pediatric trauma. Dr. Majumdar received her medical degree and completed her orthopedic surgery residency at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, N. Mex.

Surgical Spine:

  • Steven Joseph Girdler, M.D. is an orthopedic spine surgeon specializing in minimally invasive and complex spine surgeries. He performed his spine surgery fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. Dr. Girdler graduated (with Distinction in Research) from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Bronx in New York.
